Have a spectator remove a coin from her pocket and look at the date. “If I can guess the date correctly”, you propose, “in just 1 guess, then I get to keep it. Fair enough?” How can you pull this one off successfully?
A glass of water is on the table. “I am going to go out of the room”, you explain, “and I’ll bet the water will be gone before I walk back in.” Would you take this bet?
Here’s a fun bit to show a library patron, or an audience while they are waiting for a program to begin. Ask your audience if they can make a pear disappear. Let them think about this. After a minute or two, show them the secret:
