Drinking Water–Through the Table?

Set a cup of water on the table.  Cover it with a sheet of newspaper.  Claim that you can drink the water without touching the newspaper!  Sounds impossible?  Here’s how:Go under the table and make a slurping sound, as though you are drinking.  Having a straw enhances the mystery.  Come up from under the table and announce that you drank it.  Would they like to check?  When they lift the newspaper to see, pick up the cup of water and drink it.  You did as you said:  You drank the water without you touching the newspaper!
